It's amazing how much you can learn about yourself by taking some time off to meet an old friend. Or to chat with a person who grew up with you. It's weird to see how a person can catch up to another person in years in terms of thoughts, beliefs, experiences. But it is even better to talk to someone who continues to grow with you and experience the same things as you do even though she might be on the other side of the world. You can always share everything with her and trust that she's going through the same thing; that she will definitely understand what you are going to say and in return share her own very personal story that might resemble yours almost 100%.... the only difference might be a huge difference in some people's eyes but not in ours. Today I met up with an old friend... we both laughed and said "you look older". Then we started talking and we realized there's much more other than our looks that has changed. We are two very different people now than we were years ago. It's nice to see that he's calmed down and matured, and I think it's nice to know that we have both accepted and most importantly, not shocked by who we are today. He has perceived me from various angles before, but the me now... I don't know if the word "matured" could describe the changes I have gone through. I know there was one point in time when he was in disbelief when he found out about my transformation, but it was really nice today to know that we can talk freely about everything because we have caught up with each other and we are on the same page-- that nothing should surprise us and everything is in place. And again, it is nice to meet and talk to someone who were around and liked who you were, and still like who you are now even though u are no longer the same. Even if years have gone by and we haven't seen each other, but the best part is it really doesn't matter because you know you can always meet years from now and be that much happier to know the person is doing fine, and that you can still feel really comfortable to share all the goods and bads, to trust the person and to laugh with the person.
