so, it has been a while since I am capable of staying up late enough being incredibly unemployed but busy, and still have the energy to write something. Today I accomplished a major task and I feel like I should document it, for that one day I will look back and say "well that was a waste of time" or "so glad I did it that night!". I am hoping it is the latter.
I worked my a$$ off today after I came across my ideal job post, by my dream firm! I've been waiting and waiting, and I even said in the past that there's no way in hell I would go back into the corporate world unless it is for that firm. Clive Wilkinson it is! I hate corporate, there's no doubt in that, and I hate the idea of working for something so hard yet it resulted in a grand lay off like it did with SOM end of 08. Granted that it was the whole world falling apart but we (SOM mies) all knew, that it was falling apart way before the market crashed. We fell apart not because WE didn't work, but because mgmt was slacking off like crazy. Chaos chaos, that's all I can say. HOWEVER! I am so impressed and apparently have been impressed and in love with Clive Wilkinson Architects' projects ever since I Stepped into this wonderful world of Interior Architecture... I've been unconsciously (yes, unconscious since I didn't know it was them) collecting images of projects done by CWA and have always been drawn to their designs. Maybe because their work is proof that I did come into this field for a reason, and I was right in my criticism on workspace LACK OF designs. I used to think back at Alpha "why the f do we have to come spend at min. 8 hours a day in this crappy, inhumane square of a room?" "Why does work have to be this way? Who ever said that workspace needs to feel and visually appear like hell?"
I know dramatic, and no I don't know how hell looks like but I'm sure it looks like that old Dlink/Alpha Office. And human beings shouldn't have to work their asses off to begin with, let along doing it in a horrible environment that's not condusive to any decent work.
And apparently my answer to my question is CWA! They have been provoking, disessembling, then resessembling work environment for those with a vision... and I WANT TO BE A PART OF THAT VISION. Their clients are clients I would want, their projects are projects that I'd be proud to be a part of, and most important of all, their work is meaningful. It helps improves poor guys like us, poor workers' lives! I mean shit if I must be stuck for at least 8 hrs a week doing some work and being underpaid, then please, let me work in an environment created by CWA. Or better yet, let me work for CWA at CWA! I mean, I DESERVE IT! And I think I would be good at it!
Alright, all self patting on the back aside, I just need some positive response. I am hoping hoping wishing praying focusing whatever it is on getting a good feedback -- an interview at least please!!!!
Man... wish me luck... GOOD LUCK S!
