foot prints

Every step counts. With each step you leave a print on the ground, it marks the path you've walked on and it points the way when you are lost. You look back and you see "ah, so I've been moving in this direction all along". It's interesting isn't it? When you least expect it, when you thought you were just walking aimlessly and suddenly came to a stop and realized "wow, taking that route, climbing those stairs was the right choice after all!" You find yourself taking a moment to reflect on the past, to congratulate yourself for having made that decision even though at the time what you did was probably borderline pointless, hopeless, and pathetic... but you did it anyway and people paid attention, even if you didn't yourself. They saw you more closely than you would've ever imagined. And you made an impression.

Today I got another job offer. And I am thankful... who would have thought that working at a small retail store would be your best stepping stone ever? who would have thought right? Making $6.75 an hr to now an effortless new job opportunity... priceless. But is it really effortless? No, as a matter of fact I've invested a lot of time and energy when I worked there for that one year-- when I was just a nobody and when I desperately needed some work opportunity and of course, "under the table" cash. It was well worth it. I am not sure if I did that well, but I think being honest, hard working, always trying and doing your best no matter how shitty the situation is or how minimal the opportunity might seem, does help. It's like planting a seed when you didn't know how the potential of that seed... take a chance, don't cheat it out of water and other necessary nutrients... and hey you've got yourself a money tree! Well no that's just a crazy exaggeration but I've come to a conclusion-- it's not about who you know, it's about who you are-- you as a person perceived by those you meet is more important than who you meet.
