Looks like I am doing well -- blogging about once a year, better than stopping completely. Lets see, if I can sum up the past 10 months in bullet point format, because I'm just efficient that way.
- Surgery went well. Though I still have those three scars on my belly (one hidden away in the belly button), they are actually the least of my concern. Reason being I got pregnant after coming back from Taiwan, and now aside from having the most handsome/adorable son to keep me company, I also have some annoying fine hair-line going vertically down my tummy as if I am doing a section cut, keeping my belly company. The baby is here to stay and he's just so damn cute, but the hair? Please disappear. Cause c'mon! How can I show off my muffin top and all that with the damn line at Vegas in August? Seriously, get gone already!
- Vegas happened twice last year, once before Taiwan trip and another time in August post Taiwan. What can I say? I had fun, we rocked, and so did my baby apparently. Found out later that I was pregnant already while partying away, dancing away getting down at XS with a little seed inside of me. Again, lets hope he has the moves when he grows up. I have faith in him ;)
- Job also happened last year, must be baby Starck, who brought me good luck. However, given that I am such a dedicated mom from early on, I quit HMC in a month, and subsequently quit (in an ugly way) my contract job at Remedios Studio. Why? B.c. I was not about to work for some crazy irrational emotional bitchy x-friend while pregnant. Gotta cut out the b.s. and the bad energy. Plus, first trimester was hard, and working on top of that with a psycho unreasonable person is not ideal. Come to think of it now, I did the right thing... telling her off that is. I am glad I told her what I told her, except if I could do it over again, i'd try to say less and say whatever I said in a different way. Hmmm... not possible, move on!
- While working at Remedios, I had the opportunity to tag along and went on a trip to London with Tony for NFL Football Europe. It was FUN! I've always wanted to visit more European Cities and I am so glad we did. It was the closest thing to "traveling alone" being married / pregnant. I had time to go around myself, went to spittalfield (name correct?) market, and shopped like someone who couldn't do math. Because if I truly converted the currency properly I probably wouldn't have bought some of the items I bought...
- Pregger... baby on its way... baby on her way became baby on his way. So silly right? I mean the fortune teller said it would be a girl, the doctors + all the other ppl that ever came in contact with the baby through ultrasound (even 4D!) said the baby was a girl! Then in the second to last check up, Dr. Kim suddenly screamed "OH MY GOSH! IT"S A BOY?!" ... And of course that happened to be right after I had finished my pottery pieces that I so aptly named "CHLOE". I had a whole collection going to... but it's all good because Chloe is now Starck, and Starck sure fits him well!
- Starck (Stark : Strong) decided to show up 6 wks early. My due date was supposed to be May 7th, but my son disagreed. He wanted to come way early that mama wasn't even mentally prepared for it. Ironically, mama always had good intuition and kind of knew something was up, and as big of a surprise as it was, we were surprisingly well prepared. Starck Yang decided to show up on March 28 2011. Since he was early, NICU was his home for nearly 2 wks. And guess what, all my plans went out the window, and I learned how to be flexible FAST. Seriously, plans are overrated, but it's better to have some then none, b.c. without it I am sure we would have been totally caught off guard and unprepared.
Now life is really simple, or so I'd like to see it as simple. It's about us being us while being mom and dad. It's about me fighting the battle with pumping vs. not, disposable diapers vs. clothed. Sleeping independently or Co-sleep, letting him cry his lungs out or not. Really? What I've come to conclusion is, no absolute ways, only better ways, but mixing is a good idea. Having a schedule is good idea, so you can either be ahead of schedule, or throw it out the window. Having rules is also a good idea, so you can break them sometimes. Having a baby that smiles at you when he hears your voice and sees (clearly yet?) you is amazing. And knowing how much he behaves like you yet looks nearly nothing like you could be frustrating, in a good way.
One year, or I should say 10 months, lots of changes. But all for the better. I am looking forward to the many expected changes to take place, in my immediate life, and in my families. Dad as a grandpa / mom as a grandma are pretty awesome. Bro, well he's still a kid but I see potential in him becoming quite an uncle. As for sis, what can I say, Vicky is Vicky - expect laughter.
Oh and sis finally graduated, now teaching a summer program for the "brighter" kids sponsored by gov't. Teaching experimental animation. Bro... big news is he's now with a new gf
Speaking of time, I should sleep before Starck wakes up... time is also oh so precious!
